Dr. Michael Foster Director of Medical Board for Phoenix Food Industries Dr. Michael Foster is a world-renowned endocrinologist who has worked with human growth hormone and diabetes in both children and adults since 1985. He began his medical studies as a Phi Beta Kappa graduate at the University of Tennessee. While there, he began to pursue his interest in the processes regulating growth in organisms, specifically through undergraduate research of bacterial growth factors. He attended the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, and graduated first in his class in 1975. Dr. Foster pursued further clinical training at the University of Minnesota, taking a residency in Pediatrics. Then as now, the pediatrics program at Minnesota was recognized as one of the world’s premier training programs. It was through his experiences there that Dr. Foster’s specific interest in endocrinology took shape. In particular, the investigation and treatment of growth processes became the major theme that shaped his subsequent training and, ultimately, his career in anti-aging science. However, the University of Minnesota’s position as one of the foremost centers for the study of abnormalities of carbohydrate metabolism provided the experiences that ignited Dr. Foster’s interest in diabetes, which proved to be the second pillar supporting his career as a specialist in endocrinology. Following a stint in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Foster chose a fellowship position in pediatric endocrinology at the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill). That choice was driven by the ground breaking work being done there in the area of insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) biochemistry and physiology. IGF-I is the primary mediator of the growth-promoting actions of growth hormone and, as such, was the logical focus of Dr. Foster’s interest in both the normal function and dysfunction of the growth hormone axis. The insulin-like nature of IGF-1 provided a connection to his interest in clinical diabetology. His work there was completed in 1982. Dr. Foster then took a full time faculty position at the School of Medicine at the University of Louisville. During his tenure at the University of Louisville, Dr. Foster has earned a reputation as one of the foremost clinicians involved in the treatment of disorders responsive to recombinant human growth hormone and in the management of both Type 1and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in infants, children and adolescents. The patients under his personal care since the introduction of recombinant hGH in 1985 represent an experiential base that makes Dr. Foster one of the leading physicians involved in the administration of hGH therapy in North America. His stature as an authority in the clinical use of human growth hormone and in the clinical management of diabetes in children and adolescents is widely acknowledged, both in the medical community and in the biotechnology industry. Dr. Foster’s expertise has been sought in a variety of advisory capacities by both professional and commercial entities. Over the years, Dr. Foster developed an increasing interest in hGH therapy applications in adult populations. However, his commitment to the management of youthful patients of all ages who are dealing with diabetes remains undiminished. Today, along with his responsibilities arising from his involvement in the treatment of the age-related decline in growth hormone secretion, Dr. Foster is the director of one of the busiest pediatric endocrinology practices in the U.S. Nearly 2000 patients with Type 1 diabetes receive their care in his clinic in Louisville, and, unfortunately, a growing number of young patients who have Type 2 diabetes has turned to the team in Louisville to manage all aspects of their condition. No matter what the clinical problem may be, Dr. Foster stands for the integration of conventional and scientifically valid unconventional modalities in the interest of enhanced patient care and the promotion of good health. Dr. Robert Foster Robert Foster co-founded Renasci Inc. in 2000 with the express intent of changing the face of healthcare in the United States. Rather than accept the fact that the physical and mental effects of aging and other chronic physiological conditions are irreversible and unchangeable, Renasci launched a new era in the understanding and treatment of the issues of tissue regeneration and repair. Since 2000, Dr. Foster has collaborated with a number of companies in an effort to create new diagnostics and procedures for rapid, convenient and cost effective assessment of the body’s physiological state and support for tissue regeneration. These efforts have resulted in the creation of Molecular Regenix LLC, a joint collaboration with CoValence Inc., a major skincare product manufacturer. Molecular Regenix has developed a line of supplements based on state-of-the-art natural biochemistry to support the creation of lean body mass, cardiovascular health, exercise recovery, skin protection, joint health and wound healing. In addition, MR has a novel wound healing topical formulation based on natural biochemistry in clinical trials that will conclude in Q1 2006. All these products and formulations are protected by patents and are directed toward tissue regeneration and addressing areas of major concern such as chronic inflammation. The goal of this work is to give all people a simple set of products that can control the processes of degradation caused by aging and other chronic conditions and to help prevent these processes from occurring at all. Prior to the founding of Renasci, Dr. Foster worked for more that 20 years in the high tech business of Semiconductor Capital Equipment. He held various positions from process development to upper management. In 1996 Dr. Foster became the CEO of Materials Research Corporation (MRC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation. Dr. Foster led a team of experienced managers and technologists that engineered a complete turn-around of MRC from major losses to profitability. This reversal of fortunes not only was the result of increased efficiency but also the creation of new, innovative technologies that are in use today in many advanced computer chips. In 1998, Dr. Foster led his team in the sale of MRC to a multi-national equipment manufacturer, Tokyo Electron Limited (TEL). Dr. Foster remained at TEL for 2 years as the President of the local subsidiary Tokyo Electron Arizona. After the business and technology integration was complete in 2000, Dr. Foster left TEL to pursue his dream of molecular discovery to help the body heal itself by regeneration and to fight the degradation of chronic conditions such as aging. In January 2003, Dr. Foster’s life was profoundly altered when his then 8 year old daughter Juliette was diagnosed with Type I diabetes. The example of quiet courage and determination that Juliette has given to her father has provided him with the humility necessary to approach the task of developing products that support the body’s efforts to repair itself. It has also given Dr. Foster a unique perspective on the state of the healthcare system today as it has culminated in the grand dream of higher efficiency and profitability many times at the expense of the patient. Dr. Foster and his brother Dr. Michael Foster, who is more importantly the Godfather of Juliette Foster, have refocused their efforts with renewed vigor to aid all people with these chronic conditions. These efforts include balancing the hormonal system, diet, exercise and supplements that are designed for optimization of lean mass, regulation of the immune system and reduction of oxidative stress at the molecular level. Dr. Foster received a PhD in chemistry from Harvard University and was a National Science Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellow at Stanford University. The nature of this work has been to elucidate fundamental feature of chemical reaction mechanisms from simple rearrangement to ionic reactions that can be applied to more complex systems. Most recently Dr. Foster has worked on novel chemical supplements for the body and the use of nanotechnology for wound healing and other anti-inflammatory applications. However, he spends most of his time trying to keep up with three daughters, Maya, Carine and Juliette, who teach him more than any scientific paper can ever contemplate.
